Intro & Guidelines

Welcome to [community profile] doctorwhofests! This is a central hub for running Doctor Who fests of various kinds. Mods will run some but members will also be able to post or promote their own challenges and fests. There is also a post where you can donate Ideas You'll Never Create (but you wish someone else would).

There have been many fun, small Doctor Who fests and ficathons over the years and we hope this comm will see many more celebrated here! All types of fanworks are welcome.

What kind of event can I run or promote here?

It needs to involve some part of the Doctor Who universe! Otherwise, it's up to you. One-off exchange on AO3, traditional style ficathon or fanworkathon, where everyone signs up to create for a shared theme, comment fests, prompt fests, remixes, reccing/commenting challenges, bingos, and so on. Individual fests can be for specific media - i.e. just fic or just art, or a set mix, and have their own guidelines.

Mods will run events, too.

If you want to run an event here, please comment below. We'll keep an updated timetable of planned events (but we'll only add events once the commenter has confirmed it) here:

Timetable

You can run events simultaneously - different events will have a different audience and these are all likely to be relatively laidback - but do consider which events might complement yours, or filling an empty slot in the calendar.

Community Guidelines:

1. No hatespeech of any kind, or harassment/bullying of members & no unsolicited bashing of characters/ships etc.
2. All works linked/posted here should have a header with appropriate warnings/info/choose not to warn. Works posted to the comm (please link instead if you can) should be under a cut, regardless of content/rating/length.
3. RPF is welcome (Historical RPF as per canon as well as DW RPF). However NO underage relationships involving living people, and while DW itself has a tradition of including historical RPF and referencing rl events, be sensitive if tackling upsetting events within living memory and do include all appropriate content warnings. (Individual fests may exclude RPF or types of RPF, so always check the fest-specific rules.)
4. When posting to the community (fest posts, promo posts, or works), please put any NSFW content/large images/multiple gifs etc./recent spoilers under a cut. If any content is NSFW, don't forget to alter the Age Restriction setting on your post. (The comm's default is Suitable For All - it helps keeps the site accessible to non-Dreamwidth users.)

Individual fests will have their own guidelines - please also check & abide by those. If you have questions about an individual fest, ask at the relevant info/sign-up post.

If you have general comments, questions etc. about [community profile] doctorwhofests or running a fest here, please ask them here or pm a mod. You can also drop off suggestions for future fests.
